Legendary Voyage offers great freedom to the players in terms of building your character. Classes or professions that limit your choices don't exist.

Each new character gets to choose 3 different skills from a wide range of magic and combat abilities. There are some templates available for certain combinations of those abilities, that make the choices at character creation easier; these templates can be used and still be individually tailored to personal flavors.

Weapon skills allow a character to use a type of weapon determined by the chosen skill, e.g. swords, shields or staves. Some weapons can only be used two handed, while others like the sword allow wielding a shield or another weapon in the other hand.

There are four types of armor skills with clothing being available automatically to any character and doesn't need to be selected. The other armor types are light, medium and heavy armor. The better the armor type, the heavier it is and as a side effect, makes the new character slower in combat; which is pretty obvious: it takes superhuman skills to do a breakdance in a plate mail and that even more if one holds a sword in each of his hands.

There are several types of magic available, each with it's own unique abilities. Some are great for standalone combat mages, some are better as a support skill for an improved fighter.

Whichever of these skills you choose, you are bound to them all your character's life, so choose it based on your playing style and your preferred way of fighting.
